Modcon Systems Showcases Next-Gen Optical and AI Technologies at Analyzer Technology Conference 2025

Galveston, Texas, May 2, 2025 — Modcon Systems, a global leader in process analysis and industrial optimization, made a commanding presence at this year’s Analyzer Technology Conference (ATC) 2025, held from April 28 to May 2 at the Galveston Island Convention Center in Texas. As a sponsor of the event, Modcon underlined its continued commitment to technological innovation in the field of industrial analytics and real-time process control.

The conference served as a platform for Modcon to unveil its next-generation solutions, merging cutting-edge optical sensing technologies, AI-powered process optimization and advanced industrial analytics. These developments are aimed at transforming how industrial plants monitor, control and enhance their production operations—particularly in high-risk and high-precision environments such as refineries, petrochemical plants and gas processing units.

A key highlight of Modcon’s participation was the technical presentation by Mr. Gregory Shahnovsky, CEO of Modcon Systems, titled “How Optical Technologies Are Redefining Process Analysis.”  His paper addressed some of the longstanding limitations of traditional analyzer deployments and introduced groundbreaking alternatives that are both safer and more cost-effective.

“Historically, process analyzers have been installed adjacent to measurement points in hazardous zones, requiring extensive protective infrastructure,” Shahnovsky explained during his talk. “This includes ATEX/IECEx-certified enclosures, power distribution panels and sample conditioning systems, all of which can make up nearly half the total cost of the analyzer system.”

In contrast, Modcon’s advanced photonics-based remote sensor technology allows the critical and costly elements of analyzer systems to be relocated to non-hazardous locations, such as control rooms. This significantly reduces system integration costs, simplifies maintenance, and improves technician safety.

Alternatively, some of Modcon’s in-situ optical analyzers can be installed directly within the process stream. This eliminates the need for both sample handling systems and protective housings, while still delivering high-performance measurements. The integration of fiber optics facilitates the transmission of light signals from the measurement point to the spectrometer and electronics, ensuring real-time analysis with minimal signal loss.

What truly sets these systems apart is their integration of machine learning (ML)-based chemometrics, featuring auto-modeling and adaptive correction algorithms. These capabilities allow Modcon analyzers to maintain high accuracy across varying process conditions, making them especially valuable in dynamic and complex operational environments.

The enthusiastic response from industry professionals at ATC 2025 reaffirmed Modcon’s position as a thought leader in the field. The company’s contributions signal a shift toward smarter, safer and more efficient process analytics—and a clear roadmap for the future of industrial automation.
